Description:

Steady Action Fishing Charters is a Tampa fishing charter service that specializes in light tackle fishing trips in the Tampa FL and St. Petersburg area. We're just an hour drive from Disney World Resorts. We welcome all anglers from novice to expert, solo to corporate parties, to come out and enjoy a great day of Tampa FL fishing.

The flats and backcountry waters in and around Tampa are some of the finest fishing grounds in the world for Snook, Tarpon, Redfish, Trout and Cobia. There are shallow flats, and miles of peaceful backcountry which are the breeding grounds of most game fish. You can target schools of Redfish roaming the flats, Trout feeding in the miles of healthy sea grass, Tarpon Rolling along the bridges and passes throughout the bay, or Snook lying in the miles of undeveloped Mangroves lining Tampa Bay. There is also fantastic near shore fishing around many artificial wrecks, and reefs where you'll find Grouper, Mackerel, Mangrove Snapper and many other species that will make for a great day of fishing! Top that off with a breathtaking daily sunrise and sunset frequented with Dolphins and Manatees. It's all waiting for you here.

Steady Action Charters is owned and operated by Tampa fishing guide Captain Jason Prieto, a Florida Gulf Coast native who has been fishing the waters of Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg his entire life.

It is my privilege to be a Tampa FL native, growing up in one of the fishing capitols of the world. I live just minutes from the beautiful flats of Tampa Bay, on which I have spent countless hours searching, studying and educating myself on the patterns and habits of Snook, Redfish, Trout, Tarpon and many other game fish.

5 years ago I turned my lifelong passion for fishing into a full time business as a a fishing charter captain. When I started Steady Action Fishing Charters I had one thing in mind, to be the Tampa fishing guide on the water.

I have also been able to share my fishing knowledge with anglers throughout the area by writing articles for 3 different fishing magazines and as co-host to a local radio show Outdoor Fishing Adventures, airing Saturday mornings from 7 am to 9 am on WGUL 860 AM.

I enjoy competing in fishing tournaments, and have placed well in many around the Tampa area.

My goal is to provide a memorable fishing charter and great customer service.

Captain Jason Prieto is a USCG licensed captain and an active member of the Florida Guides Association and NACO.

This is the transition month and fishing is excellent. Weather is also very comfortable with temperatures in the mid 70s around mid day and normally you wi...

September is the month that starts fall!         Red fish are on the flats and schooling up. This past weeks charters we have started to see schools of redfish on the flats of lower Tampa Bay and should hold in these areas all the way into October. Tampa Bay Fishing Report 08.25.10

Despite the hot and rainy weather we have had, fishing has been consistent.   We are still catching over slot Red fish and I expect the numbers to increase as we head into the fall months. July 27th, 2010 | Author: Capt Jason Prieto     Well I had the opportunity to take Frank Sargeant out fishing to write an article on Tarpon fishing. Frank Sargeant writes the outdoor section of the Tampa Tribune local paper among many other magazines. We headed out to catch bait with our bait of choice being big green back (A.K.A Scaled Sardines) Once the bait was c...

Tampa Bay Fishing Report 06.29.10

Going into July the summer heat and thunderstorms are here and in full swing, but that has not slowed the fishing.   July brings more than just fireworks,it brings good fishing. We are starting to finally see the small hatch bait make it to the flats. With that small bait comes the BIG Mangrove Snapper. Mangroves move into ship channels, ledges and reefs in July and stay there towards mid of September. They make for a great fight on light tackle and taste great. There have been a f...

Tampa Bay Fishing Report 06.28.10

Summer days are here and going into the heart of the summer you can expect to see a few common things to occur. Hot weather, 90 degree water temperature, afternoon thunderstorms, and high humidity are all signs telling you to start fishing deeper water areas. Most of your shallow flat areas are very hot and some have very little moving water so you end up with low oxygen levels in certain areas. This means that even if you do find fish in the shallows you will stand a good c...

Tampa Bay Fishing Report 05.28.10

Summer fishing is starting to kick into gear. Water tempatures are really starting to creap up and the fish are moving to deeper water.   Trout are still a good targeted fish but you have to find that 4 to 6ft contour with good tidal flow and healthy bottom. Rigging for Trout is simple. use about 3 foot of 25 lb flourocarbon leader and attach your line to leader with a Double Uni knot. I always use circle hooks, my perferred hook is a #1 bleeding circle hook. leader to hook knot th...
