Experience:

In 2002, I decided to one up my fishing career by getting my Coast Guards Captain’s License. At first, I picked up this license in hopes that I could make a little extra money to pay for college. But as the years went on I began to realize that this was my true calling and passion. In 2004 I graduated from St. Leo University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. But it was then that I had to make my most crucial decision. I decided to become a full-time guide in 2004 and have never looked back.

Although I attribute most of my guiding success to my commercial fishing years it’s my clients that have helped me become truly successful. On average I fish 200+ days a year and of those days 10-15 are spent with clients fishing tournaments throughout the state of Florida. The success my clients and I have had on the tournament trail over the years is the true catapult for my business success.

2003 - 1st Place Citrus County Builders Association Tournament
2003 - 1st Place Citrus Civitan Tournament
2004 - 5th Place IFA Redfish Tour (Homosassa)
2006 - 2nd Place Twin River’s Women’s Redfish Championship
2009 - 5th Place Trout Master’s Fishing Tournament
2009 - 1st Place Redfish Extreme Tournament
2009 - 4th Place Points Redfish Extreme Tournament

Because of my vast experiences and knowledge of different areas, fish, and their patterns I myself and all of my charters fish for over 20 different species of fish day in and day out. My specialties include (but are not limited to) Sight fishing for Redfish, Tarpon, and Tripletail, Fly Fishing for World Class Tarpon, Plugging for Grouper and Cobia, and just CATCHING!!! I am also an ORVIS endorsed fly fishing guide and Certified Fly Casting Instructor. I extremely enjoy teaching the art and skill of fly fishing to new and experienced flyfishermen/women.

Biography:
Hi, I am Captain Kyle Messier of Red Hot Fishing Charters. For the past 15 years inshore saltwater fishing has been more than just a passion to me, it has been a collection of different experiences over time. It is the uncertainty of each fishing day that drives me back to the crystal clear waters of the Big Bend every day.

Homosassa River Fishing Report 07.11.12

With most of the country locked into a stifling heat wave, here along the Nature Coast we are being spoiled with Extremely Hot Fishing Action to go along with our beautiful summer weather. Although most of our daily temps are in the upper 80's to low 90's we are still able to combat the heat in many different ways. I for one love early mornings and there is no better bonus to an early morning start than watching the sun rise over our beautiful mangrove shorelines. Plus keep in mind...

Crystal River Fishing Report 05.18.12

Report Date: May 16, 2012 Tarpon fever has officially hit the Nature Coast and Florida Fishing Adventures is feeling the effects of this horrible sickness. Sleep deprivation, Hallucinations, and Exhaustion, are just a few of the terrible symptoms, but after staring at acres and acres of rolling, tailing and feeding Tarpon over the last few weeks this long awaited infection is a welcomed sign!!! Stay tuned to FLORIDAFISHINGADVENTURES.COM as well as our FaceBook page for all the up to dat...

Homosassa River Fishing Report 04.16.12

Report Date: April 15, 2012 After 6 acrobatic jumps this 80+lb Spinner Shark was released to fight another day. You just have to love April along the Nature Coast. Blue skies, cool mornings, mild temperatures, and some of the best fishing the Nature Coast will see all year occurs during the month of April. Historically, April is the catalyst month for the start of the Nature Coast fishing season. Now don’t ge...

Crystal River Fishing Report 03.19.12

Over the last few weeks anglers fishing the Nature Coast of Florida have been extremely blessed with great weather and some unbelievable fishing action. To say that I am surprised at how well the beginning of Spring has been over the recent weeks still remains an understatement. With water temperatures hitting the magical mark of 69 degrees weeks earlier during this New Year plenty of species are reaping the benefits of our great weather situation, but none more so than the Redfish. Ton...

Homosassa River Fishing Report 02.27.12

Report Date: February 27, 2012 Beautiful Morning!!! As you can imagine it has been quite the disappointing winter here in Florida. For the last 3 weeks we Floridians have been forced to wear shorts outdoors everyday, watch our poor winter jackets still collecting dust and to make matters worse we’ve been forced to constantly apply Sunscreen day after day because the sun just doesn’t want to go away. As...

Homosassa River Fishing Report 12.01.11

Report Date: November  2011 Here is another beautiful Ol' Florida Redfish! The season has come and to all those that have waited, the refreshing air from the north has finally shuttled in a few changes here along the Nature Coast. As you step out the door this morning you will probably realize that the dog days of summer are long gone along with all of the humidity that comes with it. Cooler mornings are t...

Crystal River Fishing Report 03.24.11

Out with the Black Drum in with the Red Drum! March and April are prime time up and down the Nature Coast for a variety of species including Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackerel, Tripletail, Snapper, and Cobia but if you’re looking for a heart pounding experience these next coming months spin or fly fishing for tailing Redfish in extremely shallow water will be coming into full swing as water temperatures continue hovering in the 70’s . Tailing Redfish? That’s right during th...

Crystal River Fishing Report 12.15.10

With much of the country locked in a battle with Mother Nature right now I figured that a little fishing report would warm everyone up and create a little excitement for what was and should continue to be one of the best fishing seasons in recent memory. As I have stated in most of my fishing reports, 2010 was by far one of the most productive years for Speckled Trout, Redfish, Spanish Mackerel and Giant Black Drum fishing in recent memories. Those of you that had the opportunity to get in on...

Gulf of Mexico Fishing Report 11.24.10

Beautiful Weather and Awesome Fishing!!!   Report Date: November 22, 2010   Oh what a little shot of cooler weather can do for your MOJO. The days of high humidity and sweltering heat seem to be behind us for now. With cool mornings and perfect sunny Florida afternoons to look forward to this is the time of year that I love to fish the most. Although the cooler weather has slowed down the boating traffic on the water lately, the fish haven’t slowed down...

Crystal River Fishing Report 10.23.10

If you’ve had the opportunity to fish with me during the last 6 months or if you’ve kept up with the photo gallery you probably have seen or heard that Red Hot Fishing Charters has added a new addition to the family. My new 22 Sundance Skiff is quiet the rig to say the least. When I say this boat is fully rigged I mean it. A beautiful flats tower from Quality T-Tops and Towers is what you would probably first notice when looking at my new boat, followed by my Yamaha engine, jackpla...

Crystal River Fishing Report 08.19.10

With the dog days of summer almost behind us, and fall fishing patterns starting to take root along many of the inshore fishing areas scattered through out the Nature Coast all eyes will soon turn to the shallows in preparation for what can only be called “Shallow Water Madness” What do I mean by “Shallow Water Madness” you ask? Fishing Guides talk about schools of fish all the time, but there are very few captains throughout Florida that ever have the chance to talk ab...

Gulf of Mexico Fishing Report 06.29.10

Wow!! What an unbelievable last couple of weeks in the world of fishing off of Crystal River and Homosassa. World Records have been broken, huge schools of Redfish have showed up early on many of the local flats, the Tripletail have finally showed up along the Nature Coast and the shallow water rocks, wrecks and reefs have become invaded by hungry Grouper, Cobia and Spanish Mackerel. With all of this going on at once it has been extremely difficult and painstak...

Crystal River Fishing Report 05.17.10

What are a few of the reasons that make saltwater fishing so exciting and enjoyable? Is it that fact that the scenery is second to none? Is it because the salty air brings back old memories? For most anglers the endless possibilities of every cast is what draws most anglers back to the salt waters year after year. In the world of fresh water fishing when you go bass fishing, you catch bass. When you go catfishing, you catch catfish (or the occasional mudfish). In the world of salt water...
