Titusville Fishing Report 09.05.12

The past few weeks have been improving fairly well as far as to the fishing here in central Florida. Prior to the storm Isaac that came thru Florida, we had numerous shots at tarpon in the Indian River. Along with this there are several stray reds and trout among the flats. Jacks, lady fish and of course catfish are all by catch. The fish (tarpon) were happy and feeding as the sun breaks and as long as it remained fairly calm waters they continued this pattern throughout the morning. Fish i...

Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report 04.09.12

Well the past few weeks have been just phenomenal here in the east central Florida back country waters of both the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River flats. Not only the fishing, but the weather too here in Oak Hill, Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach along with all of the Orlando area saltwater inshore fishing. You could not ask for better weather to be in, fish in or live in than that of the weather that has been here amongst us this winter and now spring time in all Florida. If things continu...

Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report 12.07.11

Well the days of summer time are gone for now but will return in no time at all. The cooler days of winter are approaching and are here to stay for a few months. With this it brings clean, clear water and the water levels will begin to drop in depth taking feeding ground away from the fish. What does this mean? Excellent sight fishing days are amongst us. The redfish will begin to gather in large schools, the trout will show up on sand and grass flats and the bite will turn into magic. As l...

Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report 10.17.11

Well several weeks of weather changes have come and gone leaving us with optimal conditions for flats fishing. The temperatures have dropped and then come back up and are leveling off comfortably now. The water levels were high and now, after the massive rain storms we just had, are even higher. Not long before it drops for winter. The water clarity should start to improve with the fresh water added and a mixture of conditions happening stirring things to say. This has the fishing going up and...

Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report 08.29.11

Redfish Near Orlando   August 29th, 2011 New Smyrna Beach /Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Reports       Well summer time has been here among us for some time now and the fishing has been great! This time of year can be outstanding if you work it to your advantage. With the higher water levels it does tend to make it a bit more challenging to locate your targets. Grass pads, dirty water and huge mullet everywhere add to the challenge. Now we all know the fish will still...

Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report 07.19.11

July 19th, 2011 Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Fishing Reports     Well here we go again. Summer time is most definitely here in the central Florida area. The weather has been outstanding here the past weeks with a great outlook for the future as well. HOT! Very hot days by any definition can be the best way to describe it. With afternoon thunderstorms coming most every day this leads to a normal pattern for Florida with great charters in the mornings and a good afternoon to...

Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report 08.25.10

With one of the hottest summers on record here in Florida and water levels down a few weeks ago, now back on the rise, salinity levels returning to acceptable conditions, and last but not least, it is not cold out, the fishing here on the Mosquito Lagoon has been steady to great. The weather for sight fishing in Florida is by far perfect! Extremely hot days call for early starts to beat the heat along with getting into optimal position before the feeding frenzies begin. Water temperatures are...

New Smyrna Beach Fishing Report 07.23.10

Well summer is most definitely here. Where was this 7 months ago. Right! This weather by far is much more acceptable than the cold snap here of 2010 that occurred. I welcome this weather year round. I am sure most of us would agree with this too. With that said the fishing the past several weeks has been outstanding. Epic days for sure. With the days being extremely hot out your best bet by far is to start early to beat the heat and finish before it is too hot out to enjoy the day. Start way b...

From here on out it will continue to just get better and better as the warm summer days approach. Next thing you know it is July. Just awesome! There is nothing better than fishing in the summer in Florida. A few tarpon have been seen here and there in the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River which is a great sign. If these tarpon are seen in the lagoon and river they will be along...

The humidity has taken over for sure along with temps rising fast and the sun beating down hard upon you. Sunscreen is a must along with a ton of water on board. Days on the water are early, so back to the saying - "The Early Bird Gets The worm", or the redfish is what I like to say. It is nice to hit the water every now...

Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report 04.28.09

Captain Drew Cavanaugh Report:The past several weeks have been very windy here along the east coast of Florida well in Florida in general. Winds have been shifting from one way to another without any warning from any one. On days when you are able to enjoy yourself and get away from protected waters fish are being picky. This is the time of year you must explore the waters you are fishing and use all of the patience you have stored inside you. The fish are always there and eat just like we do....

Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report 04.02.09

Mosquito Lagoon Report 4/2/09:The past few weeks we have had a change in weather patterns. Winds are shifting from their winter north directions to a south-southeast direction. Temps are coming up in the air as well with water temps rising too. Water levels have dramatically come up the past weeks. It always seems that this is an over night thing here on the Mosquito Lagoon. It happens so quickly. With the water coming up the fishing patterns have changed a bit. You can feel spring/summer in t...
