Open all year, The Tarn offers Fly fishing on the crystal clear, spring fed waters, ensuring some of the finest 'top of the water' sport most of the season. Open all year, Allandale also offers Bait fishing on the 'Iona' pool. Stocked daily with quality Rainbow, blue & brown trout from 1&1/2lbs up to 18lbs plus!

Separate gender toilets, Two wooden shelters are provided as well as the main office/ tackle shop which has seating as well as heated by a superb large wood burning stove!

Aquatic vegetation:

Various, but well managed to ensure healthy, crystal clear, oxygenated waters & supporting an abundance of insect life all year for the fish to grow increasingly bigger & stronger on.

Tips/Tactics:

Floating lines are recomended most of the year at The Tarn. Chioce of flies & cast set up varies throughout the seasons, but favourites most of the year are Damsel nymphs, Shuttlecock CDC - particularly the Hares Lug & Yellow Owl, Slim buzzers & the Hares Lug Nymph. For bait fishing, standard float fishing with worms or a worm/corn combo is always popular, but sometimes Power Bait is favoured
