Abacos, Bahamas Report:Its been 8 solid days of 25-30 mph winds here in the Abacos. It looks like we have at least through Sunday before it drops off;and thats if the weather man is right--Flip a coin !! Anyway, when this breaks, it should be on fire out there. No fishing pressure for this long means good things, hopefully. The Whites should be here in good numbers along with the dolphin. Sarasota Bay Fishing Report 03.30.09

Fishing Report 03/29/2009 – Capt. Terry Frankford: Angler's aboard the Reelin & Chillin cleaned up on Red Drum during several trips the last couple of weeks. Most were over the slot limit of twenty-seven inches, and caught on light tackle. Using the St. Croix Tidemaster medium action rod, an Okuma IA-30 reel spooled with ten pound test line made for fantastic action. Some of the reds reached up to twelve pounds, measuring up to thirty-two inches. Trout also entered the picture on several...

Pine Island Sound Fishing Report 03.30.09

FLORIDA FISHING REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING 03/28/09byCapt. Butch Rickey How quickly the weather can turn a full week into crap! We fished for three days is wind gusting to 25 MPH. By Thursday morning the wind was out of hand. Some of us put our boats back on the trailers and went home. Others went out to try to get their trips in, and came back later saying it was just too nasty to fish. And, then. There are those who are going to fish regardless! I managed to get two of my five trips in befor...

White River Tailwaters Fishing Report 03.30.09

White River Report 3/29/09:The last two weeks on the White River has been really good. With the power and light company seemingly wanting to keep the lake levels at the top of the power pool, we have experienced some low water. The Browns and Rainbows started to eat again after a couple days and Chris, a 10 year veteran of Tailwater Fishing Service, and Rick, his bud since the 8th grade, toughed out the bad weather and really wore them out. After the second day, the saying in the boat was &quo...

Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 03.30.09

Fished the big G from 3-26 thru 3-29.. The creeks on the west side were blown out due to the 2.5 inchs of rain they had the day of the 25th. We still caught a few Thur before they got blowen out bad. Had to go to main lake to catch fish pecked and search to catch a limit each day that was it. Ended up on a pattern on the east side of the lake with the water running in off the mountains there was fish stacked at where the water was running off the chunk rock and into the creek. Biggest off that...

Clearwater Harbor Fishing Report 03.30.09

Tampa Bay & Clearwater Harbor Report:The Tarpon have started to show up in the West Central back waters. The best time to target these brawlers is from daybreak to around noon. For the backwater enthusiast, there are plenty of these giants from Tampa Bay to St. Joseph's Sound. These areas are prime due to warmer water and excessive bait. The Tarpon have been ranging from 80 to 100 Lbs. Now is the time to book your trip for the thrill that only the King can bring. With the weather heating u...

Lake Ontario Fishing Report 03.30.09

Jax/Yankee 3-22 ON FIRE! Well, we worried about the weather report of 1-3' waves out of the NW late last night, but we gave it a try anyway. Jeremy met my brother and I down at the Bay around 8am. Waves were bearable, and the fishing was HOT! We finally got into the fish a little East of Irondequoit and it didn't stop till we hit Hedges. Final count was 15 for 18. Tally was 1 Atlantic, 2 Rainbows, 12 Browns. Biggest Brown was close to 10 pounds. The Atlantic was the surprise of the day. It was...

Newton Lake Fishing Report 03.29.09

We had an enjoyable day on the water, despite periods of inclimate weather. The bite was on!!! Mark and Scott are both excellent bass fishermen, and they caught outstanding bass all day. Well, not quite all day. It's nice being only a half mile from the ramp. During the nasty, cold, middle of the day, we went back and sat in front of the fire place, grabbed lunch and a nap, and then went back out. I am not sure how many bass we caught- I would guess 35, and we had no monsters, but we caught...

Milwaukee Bay Fishing Report 03.28.09

Fishing Charters Milwaukee Presentation Tips By Capt. Jim Hirt In previous articles we covered spring presentation and location. As we go into summer our presentation evolves to follow the temperature of the fish you are targeting. This time of year look for most of your fish in the top 40 feet. Keep your eye on your locater and also work deeper marks when you see them. My experience this time of year is the deeper fish are less active and tend not to bite. Most often you will no...

Indian River Fishing Report 03.27.09

South Indian River Fishing Report:March 26, 2009 INSHORE: March winds continued to blow strong again this week. Some of the brave dared to venture out some days, including myself. If you can stand the wind, you can catch fish! Look for more blustery days ahead, but the sunshine and warm temperatures will surely tempt you to head out. Luckily, this week I only had to fish a couple spots to find some nice fish on the Indian River. The most exciting catch this week was a 21" bonefish on the...

Pine Island Sound Fishing Report 03.27.09

Pine Island Sound Report:Very poor tides and a trip to Port Manatee to fulfill my TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) requirement cut the work week a bit short. First up on Sunday was my good friend Dr. John Hitt, of UCF. He was over from Orlando for some quick R & R, and was returning on Monday. We had no moving water for most of the morning, but would have to be back in fairly early so that John could get his boat dried out. John's primary interest was taking a nice li...

White River Tailwaters Fishing Report 03.27.09

March 23, 2009 Spring has arrived and with it, low water and some fantastic dry fly fishing. The shad bite is, unfortunately, over but there are big caddis coming off daily and the fish are eating them up. Alot of the larger trout are taking them subsurface but we've caught some really nice rainbows(15-18 inches) on the surface. A standard elk hair caddis with a green body and white wing in size 12 and 14 has been getting them on top and my Sunday Special is doing the trick down below. Warm we...

Fort Pierce Inlet Fishing Report 03.27.09

Ft. Pierce Inshore - Offshore Report:MARCH 28, 2009 INSHORE - There has not been much to report this week except for plenty of southeast to east winds. This has made fishing from most spots tough. About the only reports were coming from Bear Point where there has been some trout, snook and a few small redfish. These fish have been lying in the sandy pockets that are close to the shore line. The bait to use has been a live shrimp or a C.A.L. bait in the lighter colors. Around the local bridges...

Lake Fork Fishing Report 03.26.09

Lake Fork Report 3/25/09:This week on Lake Fork the water is at full pool due to recent heavy rains and the temp. is in the 60's depending on where on the lake you are. The back of the creeks have been warmer in the afternoons. The upper ends of the lake are stained to muddy in the creeks with some pockets clear if they didn't get the runoff. Main lake is fairly clear. There is a heavy pollen stain in some areas making sight fishing difficult at best. Gar are moving in shallow and that is a go...
