Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 10.13.08

Since the rain came through fishing has been tougher on Guntersville. Wed during the rain we were looking for better fish and they bit with my client catching the biggest bass of his life at 7 lbs.We caught fish on Choo buzzbaits(blk and white) and stanley ribbits in scattered grass in 3-5ft. Sat and Sunday were a little tougher. We caught 21 Sat in a half day and 27 Sunday during a full day trip. Each day the best producer was a zoom fluke in scattered grass. Pine Island Sound Fishing Report 10.13.08

It was another one day workweek, but it was a great day with a wonderful family, David, Jennifer, and son Ted Arthur, over from Ft. Lauderdale. The day began as always with the catching of bait. Once we were loaded up and organized, we headed right to the B span. It was a little sloppy from the A span over to the B span, and young nine year old Teddy really had fun on the ride. Once there, Dave helped me with the chumming duties, as Teddy and Jen helped pick up the baits that got into the cock...

Fort Pierce Inlet Fishing Report 10.10.08

Ft. Pierce Inshore - Offshore ReportOctober 9, 2008 INSHORE - There has been a lot of rain this week along with all the dirty water from the freshwater run off making the inshore fishing tough. I did have reports of some trout action around Bear Point. The bite was first thing in the morning and most of the fish have been caught on soft plastic baits like a D.O.A. Shrimp or Bait Buster. As far as the redfish this week try the high tide when the water is the cleanest. The area up around Queen'...

Tampa Bay Fishing Report 10.10.08

Fall Fishing is in Full Swing With cold fronts starting to reach down south on a more frequent basis and with days getting shorter, this cools water down and tells fish that its time to head to their fall spots. These areas are rivers mouths, creeks, flats, backcountry, and oyster bars just to name a few. Snook- are definitely on the flats and backcountry. As the water gets cooler the bait will start to move off the shallow water, this will make them more aggressive as they get ready for winte...

Lake Texoma Fishing Report 10.10.08

Cooling water temperatures this time of year ushers in the Fall fishing season. For at least the next two months the fish will congregate in larger and larger schools. Finding the fish during this season is aided by the migratory sea gulls which have already started to arrive. We are already catching fish on live shad. Down-riggers will begin to catch fish as the schools become larger. Casting jigs such as sassy shads and road runners into the schools will also produce fish.Doc WalkerPhone#: -...

Atlantic Ocean (FL) Fishing Report 10.08.08

I get to write about some stories that are just a little notch above the others. That is the case in this fishing report( Oct 5th) In being a charter boat fisherman and part time writer in theses short fishing stories.Today I was not to be there on the boat instead my son Luis and my Captain Jay Jay were running the business. This was a rainy grey over cast day and we only had one person scheduled to go out on a shared charter. Since we had no one to join him at 1:00 for an afternoon of fishin...

Pine Island Sound Fishing Report 10.07.08

This was another one day work week, but my trip Wednesday with my old friend of ten years, Bob McGuire, will go down as one of my most memorable.Bob arranged this trip for his four year old grandson, Caden, and of course his dad, Mark. Bob wisely wants to plant in Caden the seeds of love for the water and fishing. Dawn was breaking as we loaded up the boys and headed to the B span for bait. It promised to be a beautiful day, and we had the makings of a fantastic sunset on the horizon. It's my...

Pensacola Bay Fishing Report 10.07.08

It’s been a great start to the fishing season so far this fall and it looks like October will continue the trend. We’ve been on the water quite a bit these past few days hooking a lot of Spanish mackerel and even a few kings in the bay. Most of the Spanish were caught on Mann’s Little George. This lure has proven to catch its fair share of Spanish, bluefish and all the skipjacks you want. Slow-trolled or tossed into the school of fish, Little George will surely get you hooked up on a fun fi...

Tampa Bay Fishing Report 10.06.08

Last month started out with some great redfish action. Bull redfish showing up as they do this time of year just in time for the Labor Day holiday. But their arrival coincided with a few unexpected friends. Fishing in Bradenton last month was overshadowed by tropical storms as well as hurricanes including Ike. October may bring some of the same with a few of them forming as I write my forecasted best bets for the month of October. For the most part, the impact on the west coast of Florida made...

St. Johns River (Lower) Fishing Report 10.06.08

The St Johns River is Red Hot!!!!!! The past few days has been the best late summer early fall bass fishing you can ask for.The water is HIGH and the fish are eating anything you wish to catch them on. Topwater/Spinner Baits/Flukes/Texas Rigged Worms and weightless Senkos take your pick. Lots of 4 and 5 pound fish being caught with a big fish here and there.I was not sure when the Government would open the river back up to boating because of the flood waters so I didn't book many trips for Oct...

Fort Pierce Inlet Fishing Report 10.02.08

OCTOBER 2, 2008 INSHORE The water is getting a little better each day this week with the last of the incoming tide being the best. Look for the best trout action down around Blind Creek, Little Mud & Big Mud Creeks.Try using a soft plastic bait like a D.O.A. Shrimp or a jerk bait like a MirrOdine and fish them in 2 to 4 feet of water. The best place to find redfish this week has been the docks along North Indian River Drive. Try a GULP! crab, small live crabs or shrimp. These baits have be...

Atlantic Ocean (FL) Fishing Report 10.01.08

It's been a while since my last report. Between the Tropical Storms, Hurricanes, the economy, back to school, etc., there have not seemed to be to many people interested in fishing. This is quite a shame as the fishing has been quite good. Lets talk about what you've been missing. This is the time of year when the dolphin typically start their migration back south from cooling northern waters to warmer southern waters. Add in all the easterly winds and swells we've been having and the combinat...

Pine Island Sound Fishing Report 09.30.08

REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING 9/27/08 I only had one trip to report on this week. I fished Friday with Jim Dougall, an old friend of many years, now. Jim brought along his good friend, Glen “Hilde” Hildebrand, whom I'd met at the ramp once years ago. These two are amazing. Jim is a young 76, I believe, and Hilde is 80. Jim is an inspiration, but Hilde is really something. At 80 he is as spry as a 30 year old, has no aches or pains, and no health issues of any kind. Jim teased that they'd probab...

Pine Island Sound Fishing Report 09.30.08

REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING 9/20/08 I was back on the water twice this week, but it wasn't easy. The water is coffee black with tannin stain from all the rain associated with two tropical systems, and eleven days of fresh water dumping from Lake O. And, as if that's not enough, they're now dumping again. In addition to the fresh water dumping, which comes right down the river to our estuary, the tides this week were very tough outgoing tides. I don't know a single guide who likes fishing outgoi...
