Fort Pierce Inlet Fishing Report 11.03.08

October 30, 2008 INSHORE - Well, another week of not much to report with the temps dipping down in to the low 40"s and with a strong north wind which has made fishing tough. However, I did get reports from anglers fishing in the afternoon when things warmed up some and they were catching a few trout down around Middle Cove in 3 to 5 feet of water and were using a soft plastic baits. I am still getting a few reports of redfish coming from the docks along Indian River Drive. Most of the fis...

Pensacola Bay Fishing Report 11.03.08

Northwest Florida, Destin, Navarre, Gulf Breeze, Pensacola, Perdido KeyThe fall fishing is wide open. Most of big Spanish mackerel has left the bay in wake of these last cold fronts passing through, but there are still some around and still more to come as they migrate from the west. For the Spanish I use casting spoons on light tackle, watch for the diving birds, when you see some surface activity cast your lures in that direction. You’ll catch Blue fish and big Skip Jacks as well. It won’t...

Lake Lanier Fishing Report 10.28.08

Water temp is in the mid 60's and is turning over. This makes the vertical jigging for spotted bass, largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, and yellow perch excellent! We are also seeing schools of bass feeding on the surface at times all over the lake. All of this great fishing, and the leaves are beginning to become colorful as well. It's a fantastic time to be at Lake Lanier.Bill VanderfordPhone#: - 779-289-1543Website- www.fishinglanier.comEmail-info@fishinglanier.com...

Sarasota Bay Fishing Report 10.27.08

October 26, 2008 Sarasota Florida Fishing Report By Capt. Bob Smith King and Spanish mackerel are still going strong along the beaches! Live sardines, pilchards and shrimp on free-line are working best. Diamond jigs and deep running plugs are working best with trolling and casting. Don’t forget your Sabiki bait rigs for the larger bait-fish. We have had barracuda, little tunny and black-tip sharks mixed in with the mackerel along the beaches and out to about the thirty foot depth. The standar...

Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 10.27.08

Fishing this week was slow at times and really good at times. This week with the fronts coming in made for colder windy conditions. The worst day we caught 14 and the best near 30 with the average around 20. Most of the fish came on Snag Proof and Bronzeye Frogs. We did catch fish on traps and big ol' monster worms. Most fish caught were in scattered grass or grasslines in 4-6 ft. We had many chances on big fish but couldn't get them out of the grass. Big fish of the week was 6 1/2 lbs with Fri...

Sun, 26 Oct 2008 This past Friday I took Tom out for the day. We headed out towards the ranch house at first light. We trolled from the Narrows towards the two points at the Ranch house. There was no surfaceactivity in fact the water was very calm almost too calm. It stayed that way most of the day. Wecould see the bass but catching them was a different story. Atlantic Ocean (FL) Fishing Report 10.23.08

10/23/08 This morning we started out our day with Brant and Julia from Toronto Canada and their good friends Lynn, Lorie and James from Dania Beach Florida. We were looking to just catch fish and if we caught some edible fish that would be a bonus. As it turned out trolling was just the thing to do. We ended up catching 11 kingfish and while trolling dead baits we got a bite on one of the outriggers. The line started peeling off the reel and we knew this was no kingfish. It only took a couple s...

Pine Island Sound Fishing Report 10.23.08

With the first cold front that passed and the shorter days the water temps are climbing down and snook know to fatten up for the winter when during cold fronts they will lay up for days with out eating. Snook are being taken in good numbers all across Charlotte Harbor with slot size fish being the normal. Redfish should be on the move towards winter flats where on a sunny day after a cool morning you will be able to find them tailing for food and warming up in the sun. Kingfish are still being...

Fort Pierce Inlet Fishing Report 10.23.08

Ft. Pierce Inshore - Offshore reportOCTOBER 23, 2008 INSHORE - The inshore fishing had just started to improve on Tuesday even with the wind blowing and the dirty water. The best trout bite is still to the south from around Bear Point down to Herman's Bay. Try a soft plastic bait in a dark color and fish in 2 to 3 feet of water. As far as the redfish go the only reports I got this week were about the area around Round Island down to Harbor Branch. Find the schools of baits and you will find th...

Charlotte Harbor Fishing Report 10.23.08

A welcome weather change has came about with cooler weather you can stay warm with hot fishing. Snook fishing continues to be excellent with fish on the feed and fattening up for the winter. Slot size fish will readily take live bait and soft plastics as well as various top water baits. My favorites include the the skitter walk Rapala early in the morning and on cloudy days like we have seen for the past few days. With the fast early morning incoming tides we have had snook have stationed up o...

Clear Lake Fishing Report 10.22.08

October 17, 2008 It's another tournament weekend starting Friday thru Sunday, plus the beginning of duck season, and the bite is still slow. Clients this week did OK for a tough bite, using lipless crank baits, drop shot, jigs & weight-less flukes. Minnow season has stared for some of the guides and they seem to be doing better than with lures so I'm going to give it a try with some clients starting Sunday. Water temperature is running from 60 to 64 degrees. Have fun!! "Tight-Lines&qu...

FLORIDA FISHING REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING 10/18/08It was yet another one day work week, and it was a great day with an old friend, John Zedde, of Harrison Township, Michigan, whom I hadn't seen in some six years. John brought along his lovely wife, Janice. Back in September of 2004, John participated in the Hurricane Fund after hurricane Charley, and sent me an advance deposit. We were finally going to get to use it! We met Monday morning at 0700 hrs. and loaded up. We headed straight to the...

Lake Berryessa Fishing Report 10.22.08

Sunday I fished with the two J's. We headed out at first light (it was cold!!!) across the laketowards the ranch house heading to the vineyards. I put my boat on automatic pilot and she (J1)caught her first bass on crankbait. She fished the front of the boat casting top water with no success. Meanwhile J2 was fishing off the back of the boat with jerk bait and landed a nice size bass. When we got to the point he fished with a River2Sea crawdad and had a fish on his line without knowing it be...

Cape Fear River Fishing Report 10.22.08

Hi Folks, We are in full swing with fall fishing. The trout bite has been on fire, the flounder are BIG and the reds are sporadic. When the fish adjust to our first really cool snap, fishing should explode. Now here's my report: Inshore: Trout fishing is fantastic. While fishing with Wayne and Dave during the Cape Fear Red-Trout Tournament we caught 13 trout and had a nice surprise of a 5.25 pound flounder...all on artificials. We were pretty high on the leader board but for several reasons, in...

Another great week of fishing in South Florida just passed us by but don’t worry if you haven’t had a chance to get out on the water recently the fishing will continue to be great for another month or so before settling in on a more normal fall/winter pattern. I have had the opportunity to fish three locations in the past week and can attest to just how good the fishing is here in South Florida. Here is just a sample of what’s available here in South Florida right now! In Everglades Nationa...

Florida Keys Fishing Report 10.21.08

I realized I haven't written a report since Caleb was born on July 16th. So with that in mind, I'll catch up by covering the past few weeks. Last week we had some great yellowtail snapper action on the reef. Lots of big flags coming right up behind the boat. Most days we could get them to eat on 15lb. flouorocarbon, but somedays we had to go down all the way to 10lb. We also jumped offshore one day and found a couple of good floaters holding some nice sized gaffer dolphin. This past week I fis...

Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 10.20.08

The fishing last week got a little tougher with the cold front that came through. Practiced with a friend for the Southern Open. Each day we looked for bigger fish and each day had good luck.Mon,Tues, and Wed had 10-15 bites and had 18-19 lbs with a big fish of 5-7 lbs each day. We targeted shallow scattered grass with a horny toad and Choo Choo buzzbait. During the tournament fishing got a little tougher. I had to fish as a co-angler and was in tenth after the first day and finished 18th.Next...

Sarasota Bay Fishing Report 10.20.08

Sarasota Bay and CoastalOctober 18, 2008 Sarasota Florida Fishing Report By Capt. Bob Smith It has been a good week for fishing along the coast in twenty to thirty feet of water. The high winds and full moon did not deter the fishing. Fishing just off Lido beach and out of New Pass, we caught plenty of Spanish mackerel up to six pounds or more. They were coming in all sizes, from twelve inches and up, and most were good size. King mackerel also made a good showing and were mixed in with the Sp...

Fort Pierce Inlet Fishing Report 10.16.08

Ft. Pierce, Fl. Inshore - Offshore Report by Capt. Joe WardOctober 16, 2008 INSHORE - There is not a lot to report this week between the strong NE winds and all the dirty water from the fresh water runoff. Reports from the anglers that did fish were that they launched at Round Island which is a goo...

Tampa Bay Fishing Report 10.16.08

Hey what’s up fellow fisherman, how has everyone been late this summer? I hope well. Some of the last few days on the water have been great because of a few low humidity days we have been having. It’s really been nice lately and feels like fall is in the air already, my favorite time of year for lots of action with quality fish, low boat traffic and beautiful weather. I like to think of them as dream days, you know the kind of fishing days you dream about, it just seems like everything is...

October 3, 2008Bass are everywhere but where is the bite? There is so much bait in the water that it makes it very hard to get them to bite your lure, whatever it is.. Before daybreak, if you're in the right place, try lipless crank baits and if some weeds are around, throw a frog, which worked today for a nice 5.8 lber. After daybreak it's very - very slow. With everything that has been going on with the economy, it's time to give our minds a rest, relieve some stress and participate in much more pleasant things. The first thing that comes to mind is FISHING!! The fish don't care about the economy and they've been willing and eager to please. Kingfish are making a strong fall showing. They are still feeding in a summer fashion, that is on the downrigger and bottom rod. Mutton snapper have been pleasing many people as they too are making a strong...
