Lake Michigan Fishing Report 06.11.13

Stable weather and calm seas this past 6 days gave way to some of the best action we have seen this year. I rate the fishing action off the shores of Two Rivers, WI as good. Surface water temperatures are climbing daily from 45-48 degrees last week to 51-53 degrees as of today 6/11/13. Cool City Charters ran 10 trips in the past 6 days and held a respectable average of 14 fish per trip.  8 being the worst of our trips and 21 fish our best afternoon. A mixture of...

Gulf of Mexico Fishing Report 06.11.13

Venice fishing charters report and forecast for 6-11-2013   While the weather did mess us up last week the tarpon and snook fishing is back to normal today.           It has been crazy this year with good times and then foul weather bouncing us around frequently. The fish have been cooperating when we can get to them. It seems like we can expect some seasonal hot weather with fair mornings and evening thunderstorms most...

Indian River Fishing Report 06.11.13

Inshore: Summer has arrived with warm weather and rainy afternoons.  It has been a wet rainy season so far, so I have to spend a day mowing grass instead of fishing!  Water clarity has been good to the south of Fort Pierce in spite of all the wet weather.  It has held up pretty well to the north as well.  This weather pattern should be the norm through the summer months, so expect some hot temperatures out there.  It's a fantastic time of year to fish...

Atlantic Ocean (FL) Fishing Report 06.11.13

Near shore Atlantic –The summer time near shore fishery of the Sebastian area is our best chance of the year to catch fish weighing in the double and sometime triple digits. Large migrating tarpon, smoker kings, bonito, barracuda, cobia, dolphin, and even sailfish are possible within small boat range of the inlet. The tarpon are generally within a mile of the beach, they will generally hit a free-lined mullet or greenie tossed in front of them. Keep a light spinner or fly rod wit...

Sebastian Inlet Fishing Report 06.11.13

Sebastian Inlet –This is the time to take advantage of the inlet. The tips of the jetties have always been the best spots this time of year, the north jetty on the outgoing tide, and the south on the incomer. Live bait is the only way to go during the day. Croakers, pigfish, and shrimp are your best choices. Shore bound anglers can also enjoy this great fishery, and possibly be at an advantage especially at night when live bait is optional and big bucktail jigs and diving plugs are co...

Indian River Lagoon Fishing Report 06.11.13

Indian River Lagoon –Snook are again center stage in Sebastian’s inshore fishing. This is partially due to the fact that the flats fishing for trout and reds is marginal at best due to a lack of grass beds, but also because so many big snook are hanging around docks and other shoreline structure. Twenty pound FINS BRAID tied to a D.O.A. shrimp or weed-less rigged C.A.L. shad will help you pull the linesiders out of the cover. Look for bull sharks and tarpon to congregate in...

Sebastian River Fishing Report 06.11.13

Sebastian River – The top of the list in the Sebastian River in July is tarpon.  The larger juvenile tarpon (15-50lb) move over to the deeper canalized section of the north fork. As other migratory tarpon arrive in the Sebastian area, they also find their way into the north fork. Live mullet early and late in the day are the best bet, but jerkbaits, diving plugs, D.O.A. shrimp and flies can be successful when the fish turn on. Some big snook continue to reside in the Se...

Atlantic Ocean (FL) Fishing Report 06.11.13

SEBASTIAN AREA FORECAST- JULY 2013 July in the Sebastian area is a month of stable weather and predictable fishing. The light winds of summer allow small boat anglers to get out and fish the mouth of Sebastian Inlet and the near coastal Atlantic on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the schools of baitfish that are responsible for luring the kingfish, tarpon, cobia and bonito within range of small boat anglers, are a bit late showing this year, so maybe July will be the month.  The &ldq...

Terra Ceia Bay Fishing Report 06.10.13

Enter Tarpon-- the beauty of the beasts! By Capt. Ray Markham   The past several months I’ve been extremely busy chasing snook, redfish, trout, flounder, pompano, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, black sea bass, grouper, and a variety of other species. We’ve had some extremes of weather from cold to warm from January on, and as we slide into June, it appears that we’re kicking off hurricane season with a tropical mess that will serve as a reminder that it’s...

Went Night Fishing with my friend Anthony. It was about 10:30 at Night. I was using a Jerkbait for Bass while Anthony was using a Pink Jighead with a White Grubtail for Sunfish. After about 10 Minutes, I hookup on a small Largemouth Bass. I casted under a Weedbed and he hit it from under. Atlantic Ocean (FL) Fishing Report 06.11.13

FIshing has been off to a great start this month. There have still been quite a few mahi mahi around in tight between 100-500 feet of water. We had a big weather system move in on us for a few days but once it was gone we were met with a pretty blue edge which was holding not only the previously mentioned mahi mahi but some blackfin tunas and quite a few sailfish. We normally dont catch that many sailfish in June but for Kelton, Reid and Rodney from Texas ,we went 3 for 4 on the “spin...

Lake Norman Fishing Report 06.09.13

Fishin’ with Capt. Gus! Bait Shops June 9, 2013   Sometimes finding a place to purchase bait is more difficult than finding fish! This is especially true when it’s five or six o’clock in the morning. Most 24/7 convenience stores offer gas, ice, snacks, coffee and worms, but very few sell fishing licenses, basic tackle, live minnows and other popular baits. Therefore, it is prudent to locate a bait shop in advance that opens early and has all...
