Eloi Bay Fishing Report 08.23.12

Shark week at the Beach. Last week may have been Shark Week on The Discovery Chanel, but I did not need a TV to see the action. Thursday I had the Jim Walther group and we headed deep into the Sound looking for big Trout. We found more sharks and trash fish than Trout, but the Trout we could get past the sharks were very nice. You just had to horse them in so fast the guys lost a lot of them to pulled hooks or teeth. One of the guys had a big Red coming to the boat when a 7’ or better...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 07.27.12

Wet, but fun Friday and Saturday on the Beach. Friday Todd Dumont brought three of his friends from New Jersey to show them how special our fishing is down here. The guys could not have picked a much worse day. The rain started as we pulled off and the wind with it. The crew was gung ho, so they suited up with rain gear and we pressed on. We started out in the marsh looking for Reds and the guys put 6 pretty Reds on ice in the rain. The weather broke a little so we headed out into Black Bay...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 07.11.12

Friday and Saturday report from the Beach. Both days I had the pleasure of fishing with Scott Fankhouser, his dad Mike and hid fishing buddy Mike. They spent the night down at Capt. Frank's lodge. Friday we were greeted by a westerly breeze that made the ride to the Sound a little bumpy. Our first stop was mostly catfish, but at the second stop the Trout were flying in the boat. The guys had a blast and filled up the ice box quick. By then the wind laid down to make our ride back in nic...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 07.03.12

Good day Friday at the Beach. Today I had Robert Perilloux and three of his sons on the boat. We headed out to the Sound and got on several bites, but the trash fish, Ladyfish, Spanish, Bluefish, and Sharks were bad. Lots of action, but not much for the box. We moved over towards Black Bay and got on a decent Trout bite and started to fill the box. The guys got the count up to 75 Trout, but by then we had burned through our 400 shrimp so we headed to the house with a nice box of fish a...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 06.12.12

Late reports from the Beach. Monday I had the pleasure of fishing with Jeff, David, and Jason. The wind was blowing as it has been, but we pounded it out and headed out to the Sound. The first rig we stopped by was covered in boats, so we move over to the next one. Capt. Jonathon waved us over and we anchored up not far from him. Once we got the Campo’s live shrimp in the water, it was on. The guys were pulling in Trout one after the other. I joined in with plastics and the Trout ate...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 05.08.12

Late report for Friday from the Beach. I had the pleasure of having the Renshaw group for another round of fish killing. Onboard were Brian, Terry, Alan, and Chris. After a stop by Campo’s for their famous live shrimp we headed out to Eloi and got on a good bite of some nice Trout. Our action was cut short at 77 Trout by some guys nice enough to pull up right on top of where we were fishing and drop anchor. From there we headed out toward the Sound and got a call from Capt. Kerry and...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 04.10.12

Good Friday report from the Beach. I had the pleasure of fishing with the Matt Fontane group. On my boat I had Matt and his wife Lisa, along with two of their kids Lidia and Pierson. Capt. Frank ran the rest of the group consisting of Brandon, Devon, Lee, Rebecca, and Alex. Conditions were not so good that morning. A front blew through the night before and the wind made it too rough to get outside to the Reds and Heads we have been on. Good thing was the water had not all blown out so we st...

Breton Sound Fishing Report 04.02.12

Breton Sound meat haul on the Beach Tuesday. Onboard were Tim, Jens, Kenny, and Stan. The water was slick as glass on the way out and we headed straight out to the Sound. We made one stop and overfilled the fish box really fast. Before the last man could toss a dead shrimp on a jig head out two others were already hooked up and drags screaming. It was monster Sheepshead one after the other. I could hardly keep up with netting them. The guys caught and released a bunch more that we had no ro...

Breton Sound Fishing Report 02.10.12

Breton Sound meat haul last Saturday on the Beach. I had Grady Erwin and his two sons wanted to get out to the Sound and catch a bunch of Sheepshead. The conditions look iffy. The wind forecast was 10-15 and a front with rain was on the way. We left the dock with fog and some breeze blowing. I decided to stop short in the marsh and look for some Reds. We made a couple of stops, but only managed to put two Reds in the box. The tide was low and falling so I decided to give going outside a sho...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 11.10.11

Friday and Saturday I had groups both days for Jim Walther. Friday it was Jim, Bucky Meredith, and Rich Mauti. We had a cold front blast through the day before and it was cold and the wind was blowing strong. We headed over to the Lake Robin area and our first stop produced only one Trout. We made another stop further down the shoreline and it was our last. Fishing with Campo’s live shrimp under a cork the Trout were hitting the ice at a steady pace. There also were a lot of Sheepshead mixed...

Hopedale Marsh Fishing Report 10.27.11

Today the Herman boys were onboard, Don, Chris, and their dad Don. After a stop by Campo’s for bait we headed over to the Hopedale marsh where we stopped by the mouth of a bayou with the tide falling out of it. Fishing with Campo’s live shrimp under a cork the guys started to put some pretty Trout in the boat.   The bite was not fast and would start and stop, but the fish were very nice. With 50 or so on ice we made a couple of moves picking up a few Trout at each. We got on a co...

Hopedale Louisiana Marsh Fishing Report 10.26.11

Fun day with the girls at the Beach. Sunday I had the rare pleasure of taking my daughters Elizabeth and Izabella fishing along with my niece Sydney. My girls love to fish, but our schedules (school, work, charters, and weather) rarely line up so we can hit the water together. We headed over to the Lake Amadee area and found boats in the main spots I wanted to fish, but that did not matter since the plan B spots were full of fish too. Fishing with Campo's live shrimp under a cork the girls put...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 10.24.11

Good day at the Beach.   Today I had Bill Meyers and his friend John onboard. After a stop at Campo’s for bait we headed over to Lake Amadee on a picture perfect morning. We made two stops today and the guys filled the boat with Trout fishing with Campo’s live shrimp under a cork. With our limits of Trout on ice we made one stop on the way back to the house and picked up a Drum and Reds to add to the box, along with a 22 pound Drum John caught and released. The guys had a great t...

Delacroix Islands Fishing Report 10.14.11

It was another trip for the Renshaw group with Brian, Stan, Chris, and Tim.   As predicted the winds were strong as we left Campo’s, but usually is with these guys. The wind kind of follows Brian around, but so do the fish. We made one stop around Lake Amedee and that was all it took to over fill the box. It was a blast and you never knew what was coming to the boat next. The Trout would bite, then the Heads would take over, then the Reds would show up, and next were the Drum...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 10.14.11

Dominick Micelli brought his clients Bob and Denise from ATI Metals down for some Redfish action. We headed over around Lake Amadee and it started off a little slow at the first few stops. The tide was slack, but we did pick up a couple fish at each stop. Made a stop near the point of a small island and got on a good Trout bite with a couple Reds and Drum mixed in. With the main target being Reds we made another move and got on a good bite of Reds and Drum. The drags were screaming and the...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 08.03.11

John brought his sons down for a day of Trout fishing. We started off in Bay Eloi and bounced around a few rigs picking up a few fish here and there, but lots of small fish junk would not leave us alone. With the winds calm and the water slick we hit the Sound and fished a few on the deeper rigs. Here we got on a good bite of some big Trout with Carolina rigged Campo’s live shrimp. The bite slowed down so we moved on over to the shaded side of the rig and got on the Trout again. The guys k...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 08.03.11

I had the pleasure of fishing with the Renshaw Group of Brian, Terry, Chris, Kenny, and Stan. As we left the dock things looked calm, but the buoys said it was blowing outside. We made our way on out to Eloi and got on the leeside of an island. It did not take long at all for the first cork to go down. From then on it was one or two or three after the other, and they were very nice sized Trout. We had a small shower come up on us and we stayed put to ride it and stay on these pretty T...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 07.22.11

Time to catch up on some late reports from last week at the Beach. Things started off Monday with Larry and Linda Abbott along with their two grandsons. We were greeted by a stiff breeze as we headed out to Bay Eloi. We made several stops trying to stay out of the wind finding lots of fish and action, but lots of throw backs. When we did find keepers they were nice ones. With a nice box of Trout plus a couple of Reds, they called it a day and fun day with the grandkids it was. Wednesday it was...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 07.14.11

Sunday I had Paul, Pablo, Enrique, and Mark on the boat. The guys have fished with me many times and know how to put a hurt on the Trout.   We started off In Lake Fortuna and caught a few Trout where I found them the day before, but this day the little ones where thick. We made a move over to Eloi and got a hot Trout bite. With 100 Trout on ice we made a move to the Sound to look for some big Trout to fishing the box off. We hit a few stops picking up a few Heads and Spanish, but n...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 07.06.11

Monday I had Larry Abbott, his wife, and a friend. We were greeted by a little breeze as we hit Eloi and bounced around a few rigs picking up a few Trout at each, but could not get a good bite going. Finally late in the morning we got on a good bite of some nice Trout. The action got fast for a little bit then it would slow and start back again. With plenty of Trout on ice we headed on in and called it a good day on the Beach with 70 pretty Trout on ice. Tuesday Kyle Hayes and couple of his...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 06.17.11

I had the pleasure of fishing with Casey, his son Cody (7), and Jeff. There was a little breeze blowing, but not bad. We started out hitting a couple rigs in Eloi and got on a good bite at the second stop. The guys were putting some nice Trout in the boat then the bite died out on us. We made a move to a protected shore line and the Trout ate up the Campo’s live shrimp under a cork. With the Trout done we hit a few spots to look for some Reds. Made a few moves, picking up one here and ther...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 06.10.11

Friday and Sunday I had Omar and Keith onboard. They come from San Diego to fish with me often. On Friday the winds were calm so we ran straight out deep into the Sound looking for some big fish. We bounced around a couple rigs picking up a few big Trout on each. We did get on a hot and fast bite, but the Trout were a little smaller than usual for these rigs. Still they were good Trout and we quickly filled our limits. We then hit a few spots in the marsh picking up some Reds and Drum to ro...

Eloi Bay Fishing Report 05.31.11

Friday Jamey Sandefur brought down a crew of co works for some fishing fun to cap off the end of a big project they had been on. Three of them jumped in my boat and Capt. Tommy took the other three. The wind was blowing a little so we sat on the Rocks with the 500 other boats out there. The guys kept picking away at the fish, but the action eventually slowed. The wind dropped just a hair so I stuck my nose out toward the Sound and slowly made our way out in the chop. Once we got out there t...
