Experience:
Team OIFC.COM (former Carolina Contender Fishing Team) is a family fishing team with a balance of youth and experience, the proper formula for success. This team consists of two Coast Guard master licensed captains, Captain Brant McMullan and brother, Captain Barrett McMullan along with father Rube McMullan and lady angler, Brant's wife, Amy. The McMullans have decades of tournament fishing experience. Starting in the 1970s, Rube McMullan first began fishing kingfish tournaments in the Carolinas. After the arrival of his two sons, Brant and Barrett, Rube introduced them to the enticing sport of king mackerel tournament fishing and ever since, OIFC.com has been a force to be reckoned with on the kingfish tournament trail. Over the past fifteen years, with the emergence of the SKA, recognized as the Nascar of the sea and the FLWs expansion into kingfish events and the increased popularity in king mackerel fishing, Team OIFC.COM competes in over 20 kingfish tournament events each year. These events are held all over the southeast, US from Hatteras, North Carolina all the way down the Atlantic Coast and through the Gulf Coast to the West Delta of Louisiana. Shallotte Inlet Fishing Report 03.15.12
The inlet buoys in Shallotte Inlet have been moved to what, as of today, is the best route[basically a straight line out]. The only bad place is the last 2 sets of buoys which is where the bar is located however as of today there is at least 3 feet at low tide. Michelle Evans Drake, Billy Berg and David Christian of The Law braved the early morning cool weather, yet flat, beautiful seas to go wahoo fishing at the Blackjack Hole. The 64 lb wahoo they came back with made the trip worth while.

Wendell Barnett and Tracy Huggins also headed for the stream yesterday. The word is that the wahoo bite is on fire! Not sure about that? Maybe this picture will help? The feeling yesterday was that the fish were starting to get a little lethargic because of the cooling waters. Don't tell that to the Bonecrusher who fished today using live shrimp. One of the pictures was taken at the Jetties, he wouldn't come off the other locations. Check out the 5.9 and 6.0 lb'rs he brought to the OIFC.

You would never know it by this afternoons weather. Jeff and Josh Wallen drove up from Myrtle beach and could not wait to get on the water. I still had a few live shrimp pinned up. The gulps had them chewing. We only fished for a couple of hours and boated 20+ fish a couple of black drum and a small flounder. If you can't figure out what to get the person that has everything, don't forget to give them a day on the water with an OIFC captian fishing.

U know they r biting if I'm catching. Fished couple hours with Jacob this a m and caught 30 or so trout. Most were 12-13 inches but had 6 or so 16-18 i nchers. Good fun on light tackle, all artificials. Chartreuse was the color on 1/8 and 1/4 oz jig heads. Capt. Brant McMullan

Thanks to all participants for their support. 192 total boat entries. The first day the better weather allowed the majority of boats to head offshore where most fish were caught in 100 feet of water. On day 2 the majority of teams were forced to stay close due to stronger winds. Funny enough, all 3 of the top fish were caught on Sunday, 2 of which came from small boats fishing just a mile offshore. First place came from100 feet of water while 2nd and 3rd came from Myrlte Beach rocks.

Greg and Lee Ann fished a half day trip with me this morning. We headed up the Shallote River looking for redfish, trout, and flounder. Redfish were on the menu first. Why in the world had the bait on the beach been so thick you could walk on it, then decide to hide out yesterday. Team "Do Work/OIFC" looked for bait all morning. Bluebird sky, low humidity, perfect temperature, pleasant northeast wind...it don't get no better than this. Captain Chris "O.C." Dew of the Carolina Cat took the OIFC's Gaff Cam with him on his charters and brought back all the following pictures. Chris reported on the trip where his crew caught the wahoo, they were headed to the McMarlin Ledge when he spotted birds working and the water alive with action about 3 miles out from the Ledge.
