Fishing Reports

Blue Ridge Lake Fishing Report 06.26.12

Blue Ridge -    Temp 80 clarity 8-9 feet  level - still down and holding about 15 feet low.   smallmouth :   The smallies are actively chasing the schools of bait all over the lake. from the dam to point 6 there are small schools of fish on the surface almost ever day. the larger schools of fish seem to be on the main lake points at dawn.  As the sun breaks the horizon look for the fish to really come alive and feed heavy for abo...

Carters Lake Fishing Report 06.26.12

temp 80-84 clarity 5-6 feet  level - full    Stripers / Hybrids   The stripers are in full swing summer pattern on this North Georgia Reservoir . Look for fish on the sonar in 25-50 feet of water near river channel drop offs and humps. These fish will be in groups but not huge schools like some other  Georgia lakes are seeing this month. The bait of choice seems to still be the Alewive and the bigger the better. We have had baits u...

Carters Lake Fishing Report 05.21.12

Carters Forecast For June    water temps 75-80 clarity 6-8 feet level full    June typically is the beginning of the summer down line bite for stripers on Carters, but it wont be for a few weeks as the water temps keep dipping down. The pattern for June will be find the fish early in the morning and fish live bait right on their heads. I still prefer Alwives as we start into summer as they seem to get more attention from the larger fish. 6-10in...

Blue Ridge Lake Fishing Report 03.26.12

Blue Ridge  Mid March Temps - 67 clarity - 7 feet Level Down about 18 feet from full pool   April is here look for the smallie bite to take off. Top water action early in the morning on the main lake is on fire. Large baits like the SMACK TACKLE smack jack wake bait in herring color and the Zara spook have been deadly on these fish at dawn. when the top water bite dies down the fish are still in open water and will still feed on sub surface baits suc...

Carters Lake Fishing Report 03.26.12

Carters  Temp 65-67 full pool +/- 5 feet  clarity 4 feet Stripers have been feeding in the morning on the main lake river channel. Look for bait and fish on the sonar and fish baits from just above the fish to the surface. We have caught many big fish recently pulling flat lines in 150 feet of water. Gizzard shad from 4-6 inches have been getting the most attention from the bigger fish. The flat line bite has been shutting down around noon so starting ea...

Blue Ridge Lake Fishing Report 02.28.12

March Forcast Blue Ridge  47-50  clarity - 9 feet in some places level at winter pool.    March on Lake Blue Ridge is all about 2 things. Crawfish and climbing temps. The crawfish will start to gather for the spawn and the smallies love craw fish!  This month you can target small mouth with a number of baits and methods. I like a slow retrieve until the water temps come up a bit. Any thing red is key , crankbaits in the red crawfish...

Carters Lake Fishing Report 02.28.12

March Forcast   Carters Lake -  temp- 48-51 clarity - very good 6+      March is one of my favorite months on Carters. The river comes alive with fish as the temps increase. Some of the first to arrive are the yellow and white bass. These fish are not the powerhouses like their bigger cousins the striper but the numbers of fish make up for the size. Yellow and white bass will fill the upper reaches of the river and can be a lot of fun. Small...

Blue Ridge Lake Fishing Report 02.13.12

Blue Ridge -  temps 48-54 clarity 6+ feet  winter pool.   Fishing has been hit or miss. With the temps still higher then normal and amount of rain . The smallmouth bite has been decent in the early morning hours. Look for the fish around the marina and the morganton point area also the shallow points at the mouth of star creek and green creek. Look for bait on the sonar and watch for the fish underneath them a lot of smallies being caught on jigging sppons...

Carters Lake Fishing Report 02.13.12

Carters Lake -    50-54 deg. clarity 4-7 feet level full winter pool   STRIPERS -The warm temps and steady rains have kept the fish feeding and also kept the shad from dying. Last year about this time we had freezing temps and snow and an awful shad kill. The pattern hasn't changed much on the linesides. They are still scattered out pretty good and feeding mostly in the morning and evening just at dark.  We are still pulling flat lines and plan...
