Granite Creek Guest Ranch is one of the most scenic cattle ranches in the West. Located only 5 miles from the Conant Valley boat dock which puts you onto the South Fork of the famous Snake River, which is one of the premier dry-fly fisheries in North America.
Push off from the dock in a canoe or paddle boat. Try your hand at fishing for famous Idaho Cutthroat Trout - some of the sneaky ones have gotten really big. Catch and release.
Granite Creek Guest Ranch has been in the Zitlau family since Peter Zitlau began homesteading 80 acres in the early 1900's. Now, 4 generations later, the Zitlau family still farms some of the land, and cattle graze on the beautiful ranch.
The 5 acre reservoir was built by early homesteaders and fills directly from a mountain spring. It is stocked with Cutthroat Trout, some of which live and grow for years. The reservoir itself is about 18 feet deep in the middle, which gives plenty of depth for the trout to live and grow. Fishing is Catch and Release, from boats, the floating dock, or from the banks. Fly Fishing is used, along with 'old-time fishing with worms'.
Guests can fish the reservoir on the ranch without an Idaho license. But if you go off-ranch and down the road about 4 miles, you'll need a license to fish in the South Fork of the Snake River, one of the premier dry-fly fisheries in North America.
Idaho Fishing Licenses, fishing equipment/gear, fishing/float trips, fish mounting...all these fishing businesses can be found in Swan Valley,Idaho, within 4-10 miles of the ranch.
