This is a web site devoted to light tackle fishing and fly fishing the flats and backcountry from Sarasota, Charlotte Harbor and Tampa Bay including Longboat Key, Siesta Key, Lido Key and Anna Maria Island.

Florida redfish fishing, snook fishing, tarpon fishing, trout fishing and more on light tackle and fly.

Sarasota fishing means variety and options. Fishing Sarasota's flats, bars, bays and gulf waters are not only productive for light tackle spin anglers, but for fly fishing enthusiasts as well.

Shallow grass flats, mangroves, sand bars and oyster bars are hangouts for redfish and snook. These are two of southwest Florida's most sought after game fish and can virtually be caught year-round.

On the deeper edges of the flats and in deeper grass you'll find large trout, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, jacks, pompano, flounder, sheepshead and many other species, depending on the season.

Cobia, bonito and tripletail will move into the inshore Gulf of Mexico. You'll also find large schools of bluefish and Spanish mackerel busting baits in the same areas.

Sarasota also has some of the best tarpon fishing in the world. We're talking big fish that average around 100 pounds, and that's average. They show up around mid May and will usually hang around through July, or longer. World class tarpon fishing, we are lucky...
